First of all, this is a very well made product and I am happy with my purchase. As advertised, this feeder keeps out starlings but unfortunately, it also keeps out cardinals and other cardinal-sized birds. Only the small songbirds can fit through the cage. I think if the cage bars were spaced just a 1/4 inch more in height and width, then the cardinals would use the feeder.
