I have used these poles with my MSS12W martin houses for over 30 years. They are very strong poles and withstands strong winds. When we built our new house a few years ago we built it in an open area with few trees for a windbreak on top of a hill. I bought a MSS12W martin house that uses this pole. The pole withstood strong winds on top of this hill. We had only one incident where all my martin house poles blew completely over. We had this pole (SSP) and another manufacturer's pole (that was 2" round pole) flattened to the ground all in one direction. We also had limbs in our big trees broken and damage to our roof. I believe this was a strong down burst of wind. This was the only incident we had with the pole. Besides that, I am very pleased with this pole.
